Our philosophy

The meaning behind the name

Paidea takes its name from an ancient Greek concept describing the formation of the whole person. For this practice, it reflects a simple belief: good medicine should care for the body, mind, and soul together.

The meaning of the name

In ancient Greek thought, paideía referred to the formation of a person over time. It was not only education in the modern sense, but the shaping of the whole human being.

The word encompassed character, intellect, values, habits, and way of life. It described the cultivation of a complete person rather than training in a single discipline.

Body, mind, and soul

Modern medicine is very good at treating the body, but health is rarely physical alone. Stress, relationships, habits, purpose, and personal meaning all shape how people feel and heal.

Paidea Health approaches care through the integration of body, mind, and soul, while remaining grounded in careful, evidence-based medicine.

The physician behind it

Dr. Chavira's interest in body, mind, and soul has been present throughout his life, from his studies in theology and philosophy to his training in medicine, emergency care, and sports medicine.

This page is only a brief introduction. Dr. Chavira will expand on this philosophy in his own words.

What it means for your care

In practice, whole-person care means unhurried visits, direct access, and a physician who comes to know your story over time.

It also means that when questions of meaning, purpose, relationships, faith, or personal well-being arise, there is room for those conversations. They are always guided by the patient's values and never imposed.
