Daniel Chavira, M.D.

Founder & Medical Director

Southern California

Dr. Chavira's interest in the relationship between body, mind, and soul has been a constant throughout his life. As an undergraduate, he earned both a BA in Comparative Theology and a BS in Biology/Biochemistry, graduating as the top student in both colleges.

He later pursued postgraduate studies in Theology, Poetry, and Philosophy before attending Stanford Medical School, where he taught Ethics and Human Biology while earning his MD. There, he researched the connection between emotional well-being, physical health, and healing.

He is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine, Fellowship trained in Sports Medicine, and serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor at the UCLA Department of Emergency Medicine. For more than two decades, he has cared for patients throughout Los Angeles, including UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center and Martin Luther King Jr. Community Hospital. Through Paidea Health, he brings that experience to a practice grounded in the integration of body, mind, and soul.

Our philosophy

The meaning behind the name

Paidea takes its name from an ancient Greek concept describing the formation of the whole person. For this practice, it reflects a simple belief: good medicine should care for the body, mind, and soul together.
